Founded in 1951, KANAZAWA SEIKA preserves the traditional taste of Japanese rice crackers, using 100% domestic rice and time-honoured methods to create a light texture and gentle, nostalgic flavour.
The Tradition of Pongashi
Pongashi has its roots in post-war Japan, when it was created to give children an affordable, nutritious and sweet treat. In Ehime’s Toyo region, it also became a symbol of good fortune and is traditionally given at celebrations such as weddings, births and milestone birthdays.
Since 1951, these nostalgic puffed grains have been handmade using the same traditional method, with varieties ranging from classic plain to black sugar, strawberry and yuzu, as well as corn and naked barley.
Passing It Forward
Preserving tradition means more than simply keeping old recipes alive. The company continues to value handmade production, carefully selected ingredients and the knowledge passed down through generations.
