Maruden Ikedaya
Sweet Nostalgia from Hida.
Founded in 1924, Maruden Ikedaya is based in Hida Takayama—known as “Little Kyoto of Hida” and a nationally designated preservation district. The company specialises in fresh, preservative-free traditional confections made with care.
A Century of Classic Flavours
For over a century, Maruden Ikedaya has been producing time-honoured Japanese sweets in the heart of Hida Takayama. Their offerings, including Hida Kakumame Crunch, Mameita, and Hida Kaidō Tabigarasu, reflect the spirit of Japan’s nostalgic dagashi culture. Each treat is handmade without preservatives and delivered fresh, capturing the flavours of old Japan in every bite.
A Sweet with National Recognition
Among their most beloved products, Hida Kakumame Crunch features roasted peanuts coated in rich brown sugar. Its slow-melting texture and warm, nostalgic flavour earned it the Grand Honorary President’s Award at the 25th National Confectionery Exposition in 2008.
“Our goal is to keep traditional flavours alive, one sweet at a time.” – Ikeda Yamashita
