Setoda Lemon Cake

瀬戸田レモンケーキ

A multi-award-winning pastry since 2013, the Setoda Lemon Cake SHIMAGOCORO are made using lemons grown on Ikuchi Island of Setoda Town in Hiroshima Prefecture. Located along the calm Seto Inland Sea, the island is known to be the largest producer of lemons in Japan due to perfect weather conditions for cultivating lemons.

An art perfected by Setoda-born pastry chefs, these lemon cakes are made with lemon juice and finely-cut lemon peel from Setoda lemons, which are known for their mild flavour and fragrance. The cake is moist and often coated with white chocolate, making it a popular souvenir from the town.

Miyakogane mochi, a premium glutinous rice from Miyagi Prefecture, is baked into a crispy okaki (rice crackers). It is wrapped in mildy sweet granulated sugar and the refreshing aroma of yuzu (Japanese citron), making it a pleasant snack that is hard to resist. The package is shaped like a tawara (rice bale), with an illustration from Hokusai Katsushika's Hokusai Manga about rice cultivation.
