Founded in postwar Nara in 1950, Ikoma Seika is the creator of the beloved Rainbow Sweets Ramune. Their dedication to handmade techniques and heartfelt craftsmanship has turned this once-local treat into a “phantom candy” adored across generations.
A Dream Shaped by Hope
Born out of a wish to bring happiness to children in the difficult years following World War II, Ikoma Seika began its confectionery journey in Ikoma City, Nara. Until today, the company holds fast to handmade traditions, including over an hour of drying time, and company president personally oversees the mixing process to ensure each batch meets the highest standards.
The Birth of a ‘Phantom Candy’
The idea for Rainbow Sweets Ramune was sparked during Japan’s “Doha Tragedy” in 1993, when the president envisioned a soccer ball-shaped candy. A year of development led to the now-famous spherical sweet, known today as a “phantom candy” for its high demand and handmade charm.
